Empowering the Next Generation of Donors: TxMiller Foundation Supports HOSAxNMDP

At the TxMiller Foundation, we are proud to collaborate with NMDP (formerly known as National Marrow Donor Program and Be The Match) in their impactful work through the HOSA initiative.

HOSA–Future Health Professionals is a global student-led organization with a mission to empower future health leaders.

Together with NMDP, HOSA educates young people about the importance of joining the stem cell donor registry, especially as they reach the age of 18, which is the minimum age to become a donor.

This focus on young people is especially close to our heart. Research shows that young (male) donors are statistically the best match for patients in need of a life-saving stem cell transplant. That’s why raising awareness among high school and college students is vital to expanding the global donor pool and increasing the chances of finding the right match for patients.

Through school-based outreach, leadership events, and peer-to-peer advocacy, the HOSA x NMDP collaboration is making a measurable difference.

We were thrilled to learn that the 2025 recruitment efforts are already on track to surpass last year’s total numbers, and we’re only halfway through the year!

*Note: to explain the gap between applications and new members: After completing a registry application form, individuals must swab their cheek and have their swab kit returned/processed to be added to the registry. Some individuals choose not to complete the process. Other individuals’ swab kits are still being processed (if they applied recently).

These numbers reflect the real-life impact of early awareness. Every form completed and every donation brings us closer to our shared mission: giving every patient in need a second chance at life.

As part of our global commitment to stem cell donor awareness, TxMiller is excited to continue supporting initiatives like this, where education, dedication and action come together to change lives.
